‘KisoBOKa Art Centre’ is initiated by Mrs. Anna van Brakel and Mr. Sjoerd Weikamp, owners of the Flavours Restaurant in Jinja and Mr. Paul van der Geest and Mr. Willem van Beek, founders of KisoBOKa. At the restaurant Anna and Sjoerd give young artist an opportunity to show (and sell) their products to the visitors and costumers. They also encouraged them to consider in their works European visions on art and taste.
The aim of the KisoBOKa-foundation is 'to support young people's talents' and they are supporting various projects in Jinja, where young people can explore and develop their talents. 'Kisoboka' means in the local language 'it is possible' and that is exactly what they want to make true. Paul is an educated artist himself, finding a lot of inspiration in the African way of living.
